WASHINGTON – On March 27, Acting FAA Administrator Bobby Sturgell joined NATCA President Patrick Forrey in signing an agreement to create an Air Traffic Safety Action Program (ATSAP), designed to foster a voluntary, cooperative, non-punitive environment for the open reporting of safety of flight concerns by FAA controllers.
On May 1,2009, the FAA issued a "Notice of Retroactive Payment for FLSA Overtime." NATCA bargaining unit members began receiving this Notice late last week. The FAA issued this Notice directly to employees without providing prior notice to NATCA or the law firm Woodley& McGillivary - that is representing ATCA members in the NATCA sponsored FLSA lawsuit entitled Abbey v. Us. which is currently pending in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
